Douglass Wins Prestigious Blue Ribbon Award
- 9-9-2010
Dear families,
I have some wonderful news to share with you. This morning, Douglass Elementary School was named a 2010 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education! We are one of just six schools in Colorado to receive this award, which is presented to schools that are consistently ranked among the state’s highest performing schools. This is a very prestigious honor for us to achieve – it’s only the third time a Boulder Valley School has received this award since its inception in 1982.
This afternoon, we will have a special assembly at 2:00 p.m. to announce this award to our students and teachers. If you’d like to join us as well, we’ll be in the gym at that time. I understand that our Chief Academic Officer and Assistant Superintendent will attend, and members of the Board of Education are also invited.
Our retiring P.E. teacher, Mr. Rich Cendali, and I will be in Washington, D.C. in mid-November to accept this award on behalf of our teachers.
Congratulations to the teachers and students at one of the top schools in the nation! I am bursting with pride to be a part of this amazing community.
Your principal, Jon Wolfer
