Our End of Year Party for students will be held on Friday, May 17.   We need many volunteers to make this a fun and successful event for our kids.  


Art Night with Tinker Art Studio
April 26th 5-7pm

Join us at Douglass Elementary for a special night of painting put on by Douglass’s PTO and Tinker Art Studio! Each participant will select one base (choose from 3 options, first-come-first-serve, while supplies last) to paint and embellish while adults and children create side by side. Your pieces will be ready to go home with you after the event. Parents are welcome to support their children or to paint their own piece!  this is not a drop-off event.
While pre-registration is preferred and highly encouraged, all guests are welcome including drop-ins (while supplies last). Drop-in guests the evening of April 26th will be required to pay with cash or check made out to Tinker Art Studio. Credit cards will not be accepted. Pre-registration will close at noon on Friday, April 26th.

    $12 per base
    20% goes back to the school

Select between a ceramic dolphin, a wooden birdhouse, or ceramic heart picture frame.  We think these would make great Mother's Day or other gifts!

Pica's Louisville is donating 15% of all sales on MONDAYS in April!  




Douglass Party at Fate Brewing Company! 
February 28, 2019, 5:30pm-8pm

Join us in the FATE Brewery Barrel Room for an evening away from the kiddos. Fun, food and a free beer! There will be live bluegrass music, a silent auction, appetizers and first beer is free. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online or at the event. All proceeds go to Douglass Elementary School.


Teacher Raffle/Movie/Pizza Night
March 8, 2019, 5pm

Join us for a Fun Douglass Community Event with our Annual Teacher Raffle,  A Showing of SmallFoot and Pizza.  This is a Parent-Accompanied Event.  more info HERE
Innovation Fair is February 4, 2019
This non-competitive innovation fair gives students who choose to do a project or create an invention, the chance to explore an area of science or invention that especially interests them.  More Information and Application Forms HERE . **Applications will be accepted until Jan 11th**

PEN (Parent Engagement Network) Event
February 5, 2019,  6:30-8pm, Douglass Heart
Jane Chandler, motivational and educational speaker, author of Thank God I Died, A Memoir

As a survivor, Jane has a passion to stop child abuse/trauma. Jane speaks candidly about the reality of child abuse/trauma in our society. Mindful of the distressing feelings this topic evokes, Jane immediately puts her audience at ease with her gentle sense of humor and compassion. Jane breaks down the enormity of the problem and provides simple, creative ways to raise awareness of child abuse/trauma and support the professionals in this field through the Together Movement. An authentic, talented, and engaging presenter, Jane leaves her audiences feeling empowered to make a meaningful difference to stop the cycle of abuse/trauma. 

Followup Welcoming Meeting

Last month, our PTO brainstormed about 50 challenges, 50 things we're doing well, and 50 opportunities for things we could add to create a more inclusive environment at Douglass. We'll focus this meeting on putting together plans to take action on these opportunities including such areas as new events, welcoming new families, addressing financial barriers, engaging kids, and creating a culture of inclusion.

Douglass Spirit Night at Verde and Tilt
February 12, 2019 5-9pm
Come play games at Tilt, have a drink and then some dinner at Verde. Both located at 640 Main Street, Louisville.

Both Verde and Tilt will give back a % of proceeds to our school.

7-8:30: PTO meeting (topics: inclusivity and diversity, what your money is spent on (super fun - but useful - budget talk), upcoming stuff, regular PTO business)

Kids enjoy an evening of games and crafts while you enjoy a night out on the town. Take some time for yourself while knowing your kids are having fun!. Vetted adult counselors will provide supervision.  100% of proceeds to support Douglass PTO!

Douglass Kids Care Expo 
November 29, 6:30-8pm
The Douglass Kids Care Expo is a NEW opportunity for Douglass students (K-5) to share their passions and inspire others to make the world a better place, and we hope your child will participate! Signup forms for the Douglass Kids Care Expo are due FRIDAY, November 16, to your child's classroom teacher. A copy of the form is also attached here -- or, as an alternative signup method,.  Projects will be due due on November 29, and the Expo will be open to the school community that evening from 6:30-8pm.  Full Details HERE

at Next Door in Boulder
Monday, November 26th - 5-9pm. 
The restaurant will donate 50% of the nights sales to Douglass. Please register using this Eventbrite link, so the restaurant Will Know how many people will attend.

Douglass is selling tickets for the Boulder Ballet/Boulder Philharmonic Production of The Nutcracker over Thanksgiving Weekend at Macky Auditorium (November 23-25). 20% of the ticket sales go directly back to the Douglass Music Program - it's their biggest fundraiser of the year which helps Kate Klotz replace and purchase instruments, microphone stands, and music books. Attached is an order form for The Nutcracker tickets . Please print and fill out the form to return to the Douglass front office by end of the school day November 5 (This deadline is FIRM, and no orders will be accepted after this date). Ticket orders will be collected on a weekly basis so people who turn in their ticket orders earlier will get the best seats available. Start (or continue) a fun family tradition and get tickets to The Nutcracker! 

KIDS Kreations - Art Fundraiser
We're excited to launch our annual Art fundraiser! Douglass families will receive their child's customized art brochure filled with plenty of great gift ideas for family and friends in Friday Folders on 10/19
All orders must be placed online by October 28 to ensure timely delivery for the holidays! 

BOX TOPS!  Please send in all of your saved Box Tops! Box Tops are being collected by your child's teacher now through October 18th. Each Box Top earns 10 cents for our school!  The classroom that collects the most Box Tops will win an ice cream party! 

Rocky Mountain Fire District & Douglass Elementary
Bootdrive is Wednesday, October 17th 7:45-8:15 AM 
North parking lot & Front Entrance areas 
Rocky Mountain Fire has graciously offered to hold a Boot Drive on Wednesday, October 17th at Douglass for our Dollar-A-Day campaign. The firemen and women will be on site with their boots collecting money for our campaign. The team from Rocky Mountain Fire will be waiting by the North lot bus drop-off area as well as our school front entrance. Parents and children can participate in the boot drive by bringing in your D.A.D. donation (check or cash) to support the fundraising campaign. 

Douglass Nights at California Pizza Kitchen
September 20th and 21st,  California Pizza Kitchen in Boulder will donate 20% of your check to Douglass on September 20 and 21st ALL DAY. Join us!  More Info here


Kindergarten through 2nd Grade Parents Back to School Coffee is August 24, 8am-9am in the Heart

3rd Grade through 5th Grade Parents Back to School Coffee is September 7th, 8am-9am in the Heart.

Our "Meet your Teacher/Open House Day" will be held on 8/14 from 10:30-1:30pm. 

Classroom visits 10:30-12 only. 
School business (bus info, medication drop off, spirit wear, etc) and food trucks on-site 11-1:30. 
Please note: This is a time change from year’s past! We felt that this might be a good way to honor teachers’ time, give people a way to meet the teachers and see the classrooms, and also give the kids a good night’s sleep before the first day of school. Please plan to join us!
