Jog-A-Thon

2010 Jog A Thon Fund Raising Results

To all Douglass Families,

Last year, we exceeded our fund raising goal of $25,000, and it was due to your effort, your generosity, and your commitment to our school.  For the 2010 Jog A Thon, we raised in excess of $32,000 net of expenses!  Thank you on behalf of the entire PTO.

These funds enabled our PTO to fulfill its commitment to Principal Wolfer to subsidize a significant portion of the budget cuts for the 2010/11 academic year, limiting the impact in our classrooms.

Thank you for every way you were able to contribute to the success of the Jog A Thon - from the 100+ volunteers needed to make the event of the Jog A Thon happen, to those who were able to contribute financially and/or coordinate donations on their behalf.  I appreciate each and every one of you.

I am extremely proud to be a part of this community and very thankful to have my children enrolled in Douglass Elementary.

With Respect,

Donna Jones

It’s Time for the 2011 Jog A Thon!!!

What do Spring time & popsicles, running & music remind you of? If you have a child in school at Douglass Elementary then you know that it is time again to begin planning for our 7th Annual Jog A Thon.  So, how do you and your family plan for this event? Dust off your running shoes, sign up for the after school Running Club and mark your calendar for Friday, May 6th, 2011 for this year’s fun day!

Good News!

The Douglass Elementary PTO, the teachers and the staff are so grateful for the extremely generous financial support you have provided over the last 12-18 months.  Thanks to each and every one of you for personally contributing to our school in its time of need.

We have good news!  Due to the recent influx of funding through BVSD legislative measures, Principal Wolfer anticipates the school’s near-term financial needs to remain stable through the end of our 2010/2011 school year.  (See Mr. Wolfer’s March 4, 2011 newletter article for more details).

Last year, we raised in excess of $33,000 with the 2010 Jog A Thon (JAT) to offset BVSD budget cuts.  This year, we anticipate that the PTO’s remaining 2010/2011 fundraising needs can be met through donations from our loyal JAT business sponsors.

What does this mean for Douglass families?  Leave your personal checkbooks at home, and help us recruit those much-appreciated business donations.  We have attached TWO documents to aid in this effort – they should be all you need to contact your favorite business.

Running Club:

Once again we will meet on Wednesdays right after school beginning April 20 for 5 weeks to get prepared for both the Jog A Thon and the 2011 Bolder Boulder. Look for more information and a permission form to come home soon in your child’s Friday folder.

Volunteers:

As always, helping during the Jog A Thon and Running Club events is a fun experience!  This year, we need parent volunteers more than ever!  Can you believe it takes over 50 warm bodies on the day of the Jog A Thon and another 20 of us to keep the weekly running club training safe?  Be on the lookout for opportunities to volunteer for both events in the next several weeks.

Thank you in advance for your participation in helping us make these events well supported, safe and enjoyable.   We look forward to it!

Respectfully,

Donna Jones & Dana Dupuis
